As I continue to get older, I realize more and more how important family is. Not just family, I suppose, but having a good support system around you, and people that will be there at the drop of a hat. Yesterday, I got into my first car accident. Nothing too serious- just a fender bender (that was totally not my fault.) Yet, it's incidents like that, that can open your eyes to who is really there for you and who is not.
Super good point. Situations like that always make me think of the song Find Out Who Your Friends Are.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're ok.
And Justina mentions another song to consider! Anyway, yes, it seems like kids can take family for granted very easily (even if there is a lack of family), and yet as we get older we're much more aware of a what family and a support system mean in our lives.
ReplyDeleteIs it a John Mayer song? Robert Frost referred to home as "the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in." I think home could be safely inferred to mean family, and while the line sounds kind of negative, obligation tends to be underrated as a creator of lasting bonds, at least in my opinion. Glad you're ok!
ReplyDeleteNope :) It's a Tim McGraw, Tacy Lawrence, Kenny Chesney song.
DeleteI got in an accident yesterday too! I know that feeling for sure.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Enough accidents! Glad you're okay, Cara, and glad you're writing about it. And glad you do have people there for you!
ReplyDeleteIt is funny how we find out who is there for us when we really need support. Thank you for sharing, I'm glad you're okay :)
ReplyDeleteHaving a good support system is definitely very important.
